Only spent one night in Shanghai,
The next day we rushed to the train station and bought high speed train to Suzhou ( 30 mins ride), because the coming weekend was the dragon boat festival, the traffic would be terribly jammed.
Pingjiang Road is a historic district in Suzhou. It is also famous for selling affordable qipao / cheongsam (Chinese dress)
Originally I was planning to buy a silk qipao with suzhou embroidery. However I couldn't find the prefect one and a bit overpriced.
At the end, I found this piece which somehow reminds me of South East Asian motifs. 😂
This piece has no zip at the back, which is more authentic with pankou!
Pankou (traditional knotted buttons) is used to fasten the qipao together, running from the base of the mandarin collar down the front of the qipao, all the way along the right side of the body.
Later, I bought another qipao, because its colour palette is similar to "In the mood for love". My grandaunt isn't a big fan of it, because she thinks I am too "young" for dark coloured qipao. . . .
